College of Education to host media specialist collaborative

AUGUSTA, GA – For the second year, the Georgia Regents University College of Education’s Instructional Resource Center will partner with the CSRA Regional Education Service Agency (RESA) to provide area media specialists with technology training, professional collaboration and networking opportunities.

“Media specialists empower students to be enthusiastic readers, thinkers and researchers,” said Jennifer Armstrong, manager of the Instructional Resource Center. “They must be knowledgeable about new media and capable of integrating technology into the curriculum.”

To assist area media specialists, the university will offer three professional development workshops this year. The workshops will provide a time for media specialist to get ideas from other media specialists, to discuss new trends and to learn about additional technology tools to assist them. They are open to all media specialists in Georgia and South Carolina public and private schools.

Workshops will be Sept. 16, Nov. 18 and Feb. 10, from 9 a.m. to noon, in University Hall 221 on the GRU Summerville campus. Register at http://goo.gl/duQBXS. For more information, call 706-737-1659.
