ColAR App lets students work in 3D

Augmented Reality (AR) is a relatively new tool for classroom engagement. Put simply, Augmented Reality is the use of technology such as a tablet or smart phone to give three-dimensional appearance to images and place them in an artificial environment.

The colAR App is a free AR app that would be a useful addition to any classroom.

To use the colAR App, follow these 4 steps:

1. Download the free app from either Google Play or the App Store.

2. Visit the colAR App website and print a free coloring sheet.

3. Color your sheet.

4. Scan the sheet with the colAR App.

Classroom Applications

Consider using the app to engage students in writing by encouraging students to compose a story about the picture. After students compose their story the student may color the picture and use the app to bring the picture to life! A teacher might also consider using this app as a classroom reward.

If you would like to see a demonstration of the colAR app, stop by the Instructional Resource Center in University Hall Room 249 during the month of January.

Leave a comment below of how you might use the colAR app in your classroom or setting.
