AUGUSTA, GA – A video produced by Augusta University for the College of Education has won a Communicator Award of Excellence. The project was the first-ever marketing video created for the College of Education. Watch the video now.
The Award of Excellence is given to those entrants who produce the “best in the field.” Rather than pit creative productions against one another, the award is merit-based. Creative employees compete to reach a standard of excellence, but only about 20 percent achieve it. Founded nearly two decades ago, the Communicator Awards receives more than 6,000 entries from companies and agencies of all sizes, making it one of the largest awards of its kind.
Dr. Zach Kelehear, dean of the College of Education, said that the video captures the passion and positivity of the professionals that Augusta University produces. “Teachers are endlessly optimistic, and the primary reason people choose the teaching profession is to make a difference. We hope people are inspired by this video – and our work in the community – to follow that desire into our college to study education. We welcome them.”
“Successful videos are all about good storytelling, and the College of Education has a good idea about who they are, what they’re trying to do and how to go about it,” said Jared Bell, video producer for Augusta University, who directed the College of Education’s video. “We were also able to capture some strong visuals to help tell that story.”
Kelehear said that the college is grateful for the support it receives from Bell and other talented employees in the Division of Communications & Marketing.
“They make resources available to us that we otherwise could not access,” he said. “Without them, our faculty and students might carry out all this good work in silence.”
The Communicator Awards are judged and overseen by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), an invitation-only body of leading professionals from a “Who’s Who” of acclaimed media, advertising, and marketing firms including: Time, Inc., Lockheed Martin, Pitney Bowes and many others.
